To me, knitting is not just a hobby, it is a lifestyle. I never leave the house without at least one WIP and I have back-up projects stashed in my car and purse because, well... you just never know! When the weather cools, my family and I leave the house lovingly adorned from head to foot in woolen creations. I am constantly concocting my next design and am hindered only by the lack of hours in a day.
I live in Bloomington, Indiana with my husband and our four boys. I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, knowing that my last name "Stricker" meant "one who knits." It was not until adulthood, though, that I ever picked up needles. Once I started, I couldn't put them down. I voraciously worked every stitch pattern and technique I could find, from cables to lace to short rows to colorwork. I worked up sweaters and socks and shawls. My first full calendar year knitting I knit 24 sweaters and 15 pairs of socks, not to mention a plethora of shawls, hats, and other accessories. Learning to knit unlocked something that had been hidden away inside me.
Knitting is a magical adventure in which two pointy sticks can turn lengths of fiber into clothing. There are countless techniques that, when combined with the perfect yarn, can create something incredible. My mission is to find these combinations and share them with the world. I want to guide knitters as they decide what next to put on their needles. I strive to write patterns that are clear and concise and can help you learn new skills along the way. I write easy-to-follow patterns that have been tested and tech edited to provide the best knitting experience possible. I offer tutorials and pattern support and guide knitters as they take their skills to the next level.
Learning to knit was a skill that transformed my life. Becoming a knitwear designer has fulfilled a dream I never knew I had. Come join me on this journey. Let's create something magnificent!
