Dreaming of creations and creating my dreams...

Hello! I’m Lisa, though you may know me better as Paper Daisy. To me, knitting is not just a hobby, it is a lifestyle. I never leave the house without at least one WIP and I have back-up projects stashed in my car and purse because, well... you just never know! When the weather cools, my family and I leave the house lovingly adorned from head to foot in woolen creations. I am constantly concocting my next design and am hindered only by the lack of hours in a day.

I live in Bloomington, Indiana with my husband and our four boys. I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, knowing that my last name "Stricker" meant "one who knits." It was not until adulthood, though, that I ever picked up needles. Once I started, I couldn't put them down. I voraciously worked every stitch pattern and technique I could find, from cables to lace to short rows to colorwork. I worked up sweaters and socks and shawls. My first full calendar year knitting I knit 24 sweaters and 15 pairs of socks, not to mention a plethora of shawls, hats, and other accessories. Learning to knit unlocked something that had been hidden away inside me.

Knitting is a magical adventure in which two pointy sticks can turn lengths of fiber into clothing. There are countless techniques that, when combined with the perfect yarn, can create something incredible. My mission is to find these combinations and share them with the world. I want to guide knitters as they decide what next to put on their needles. I strive to write patterns that are clear and concise and can help you learn new skills along the way. I write easy-to-follow patterns that have been tested and tech edited to provide the best knitting experience possible. I offer tutorials and pattern support and guide knitters as they take their skills to the next level.

Learning to knit was a skill that transformed my life. Becoming a knitwear designer has fulfilled a dream I never knew I had. Come join me on this journey. Let's create something magnificent!

Values and Inclusion

I appreciate the diversity of our global community and I believe that our differences should be celebrated! Every person is unique and is welcomed into my space, regardless of race, religion, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, ethnicity, ability, or disability. Hate speech and nastiness are not tolerated. Black Lives Matter. Love is love. Kindness is everything.

I believe that actions speak louder than words. In my personal life, I work to rectify injustices in the world through my donations, volunteering, and voting for change. I was trained and worked as a CASA (court appointed special advocate) to give a voice to the children who needed it most. I have volunteered as a scout leader and organizer. I have worked as a volunteer and/or collected donations for the disadvantaged members of my community through programs such as Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, the Shalom Center, and Monroe County United Ministries.

Through my business and with the support of other knitters, I have been able to do even more to support the global community! I have organized fundraisers to make a difference in lives around the world. Please consider making a donation if you are able!

Down Syndrome International: This international organization is committed to improving the quality of life for people with Down syndrome, promoting their right to be included on a full and equal basis with others. I organized the Lots of Socks KAL, which earned over $32,000 for this organization! Our funds have been used to provide support and advocacy for Down syndrome families in Rwanda, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Guatemala, Nepal, Turkey, Peru, and more. Our funds even helped two children in Nigeria receive a new heart!

The Trevor Project: This is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ young people under 25. Throughout the month of June, I shared information about this organization and donated a portion of my sales. My boys have the love and support to be who they are, and everyone deserves to feel this way.

Kiva.org: This nonprofit has a mission to expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive. They do this by crowdfunding loans and unlocking capital for the underserved, improving the quality and cost of financial services, and addressing the underlying barriers to financial access around the world. Through Kiva's work, students can pay for tuition, women can start businesses, farmers are able to invest in equipment and families can afford needed emergency care. I’m in the process of organizing a fundraiser for this organization… stay tuned!
